The OpenTo column not created into the list

description

Hello,

First of I love the simplicity of the solution and it looks really nice. The only problem is I have an issue getting it to work.

I tried it on a Office 365 environment and the solution is activated.

In IE10, IE8 (I changed the browser mode in source tools) and Firefox I get this message appearing in the web part, "The OpenTo column not created into the list".

I tried it with a picture library as I thought was obvious and with a normal document library but the same results.

I guess I'm missing a part of this simple story but hopefully you can shine some light over the mather.
Thanks in advanced,
Kind regards,
Maarten

Hello Maarten, first to all, my apologies for the late answer the question, the message is because you need to add a custom column into the source document picture library, in this text column you can put the web adress that will be open when the thumbnail is pressed.

Bye.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.

If I understood correctly and followed your advice I created an extra column in the picture library called " OpenTo" (single line of text).

Because you mentioned "you can", I figured I have to add the url to the picture library in the OpenTo column manually (https://domain1.sharepoint.com/sites/team1/test/wallPaper.png) .

I tried that but still no thumbnail is appearing?

I really think I'm missing a very obvious step (sorry for that) is it possible you can maybe add some screenshots to your documentation section?

Thanks in advanced,
Kind regards,
Maarten

Some troubleshooting task here:

1) Check if the user account has permissions to read the picture library,.
2) Check the name of the library or list,
3) Folders in to the library it's not supported, put the images in the root path
3) Use a HTML5 navigator
4) Check if your navigator can access to the .JS files in the folder Phobox. You can see the content in SharePoint designer, the installation could be corrupted, and some files is missing.
5) Uninstall the feature and delete the Photobox folder manually in SharePoint designer, see the root directory, and then reinstall the wsp.

Let me know the result !

Another one fix: (Only to Internet Explorer)

Check the meta tag,:

<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=9"/>

You do not forget checkin/checkout, to publish the master page changes.

Hi ejgarci,

Thanks for your great advice. I checked all the steps but unfortunatly no success.

1) User account has permissions **** My account has full access to everything.

2) Check the name **** the library name is correct, one word no spaces or weird characters and I copied it to the web part settings.

3) Folders in to the library **** no folders used in the picture library. I did read something about issues around JQuery tags and the default picture library view but I did not really understand that part.

I even removed all the other sandboxed solutions and installed a fresh downloaded copy of the photobox.

One thing I noticed was that the v4.master of sharepoint online had
<meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=__8__"/> instead of 9 like you said. So I made a copy and replaced the line for yours, checked it in and approved it but still a no go.

Anymore suggestions?
Thanks for all the help,

Kind regards,
Maarten

You can publish the page and send the public URL, and I can see the behavior you do not need a special user if anonymous establishes the right to the library.

I found the problem into the jquery library, that is unable to Access to the rest services in office 365, for now I trying to fix the problem, but in SharePoint 2010 standard this works properly.

Hi ejgarci,

Sorry for my late reply I was painting my house all weekend and barely toughed a computer.

Great to hear you might have found a solution to fix the problem. I'll be looking forward for a new release and being your monkey in testing it to be fool proof :-)

Thanks,
Kind regards,
Maarten
